Can get a cheap Nord 2x rack: but it seems too simple from the manual
I've been eyeing Nord for some time and noticed pretty cheap pricing for a 2x rack. But reading the manual it doesn't seem to do much at all, not like a TI. Not many parameters, no display to tell you values. I like the nord filter, but it just all seems too simple.
What am I missing? I don't have a chance to try one and TBH I am lousy at judging a synth without a month at home to really find out. Cheers, B |
The NL2 doesn't have much bells & whistles, but it cuts through everything. It's probably the best VA for leads (afterall it is called NordLead). That's the NL magic. It doesn't sound special as a single instrument, but when you throw it into a mix you'll get that moment of awe. It just fits there and I have no idea how, but it just finds its place automatically in the sound spectrum or something. Hoho.
NL fits fine from live band rig to destinied failed wannabe producers' bedroom studios. |
Don't know if I want to sound like Jan Hammer from the '80s :) But I want warm pads, bright plucks and a definite synth sound. Something different from the dark TI sound.
I know what you mean with that moment of awe in a mix. Some great basses sound completely wrong in a mix, you need to hear them in context to judge. B |

I have a Nord Lead 3 exactly because I want more visual control e some features...Nord Lead is powerfull as Virus....get one and see or better listen... The correct to speak about one or other is NORD is for GOD and Virus is for Devil... So , I Have both.... |
