Can anyone recomend a good distortion plugin?
Looking for a good distortion plugin. Im not big on the ohm ones and im looking for something with a few more options than the internal virus distiortion.Something that can beef the sound up or compleatly obliterate it but still sound smooth and fluid.

Izotope Trash. But I mostly use that on drums, but can produce good results on bass too.
Sonalksis have some Filter distortions in the TBK series, i think. I mostly use, Ableton's built in Distortion. Live 8 has a brilliant new distortion plug :D ________ Land Rover Perentie picture |

Distortion is pretty much central to the music I write.
My favourite software distortion is the Scream 9 unit from Reason. Other than that, if you have a particular sample or piece you want processed I could chuck it through my culture vulture for you, if you want.. :> By the way, I have found that the Virus distortion sounds much nicer if you also saturate the filter a bit too... prior to discovering this all the distortion I was getting out of my virus sounded kinda thin and fizzy and weak. -Annikk |
I like the scream from reason too but reason dosnt have live input to route the virus through.

Yeah. One of the main sucky things about Reason. :/
If you won't be performing live though, and just need some post processing type thing, it would probably do... -Annikk |
This one is not smooth and fluid, however. If you are on Windows I URGE you to try Boogex from voxengo. It's free, easy to use and sounds soo good. I'm going to miss this plug when I'll switch to OS X.
