For whom it might be of interest. Found a video where gary numan shows his live equipment, and praised the virus ti:

Among others two virus synth at left (listen at 1:50 and 2:15) and right (listen at 9:42) stage side :-)

I went to see him at Cream in Liverpool a good few years back , from what I remember he only used a D50 and an M1
