Long USB Cable Sucess Stories

What is the longest usb cable (passive or active) that people have used successfully with their virus. Please also indicate which OS (virus and pc) you are using.

Thanks!

3m maximum if you want reliability.

They reference 5 metres as the maximum, or 3 metres for "low speed devices" (i presume they mean USB 1/1.1 instead of USB2).. it's a digital signal so the chances are you won't get any signal degradation, it will either work, or stop working entirely. I've not done any experimenting myself though unfortunately..

I connected my Virus TI to my DAW with the 3m cable that came with the Virus. The two live on opposite sides of the desk, so I passed the cable under the desk and fixed it to the underside with a heap of black electrical tape. Works great :>

the virus is a high-speed device i.e. 12mbit (which is still compatible to USB 1.1)

high speed does not refer to usb 2
