Mono Output
Hey this has been racking my brain, i'm going to get a single Avantone Mixcube as a reference monitor so i can check my songs in mono. The cable i currently have laying around to use would be a stereo 1/4"TRS to XLR (wanting to use it as only mono though obviously).
I use my Virus as the soundcard through USB with Ableton. I use output1 on the virus for my main monitors. I was hoping i could somehow plug the mixcube into the headphone jack instead of having to unplug a main monitor everytime i wanted to check my mono summing. I'm thinking i need to put a mono VST plugin on my master track in Ableton which would output a double mono correct? (there is still L+R information but each channel is identical). So if i have my stereo cable plugged into one speaker, will that output the double mono from my DAW as just normal mono on the Mixcube? |
Are your other monitors passive (ie not amp in them), you could use your same amp for both speakers and use a speaker switch.

All of the speakers i'm trying to use (3 of them) are active.

Hello chris,
I think you need a monitor controller like the Presonus Monitor Station or Maybe the Mackie big knob Have a look at this http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/nov0...torstation.htm Hope that helps |
Or a small compact mixer, google soundcraft compact 4

Are you guys serious that i can't find a way to make my headphone output work to send sound to a Mixcube? Even if i make my song in my DAW mono?
I rather just swap out cables on the output 1 than buy something extra...i just can't believe there's no way to utilize the headphone output for a 2nd reference monitor instead of headphones. |
sounds like you know what you want, just go to Hi Fi shop and find headphone to mixcube cable. Should be a easy as.
