Wanna learn to make House
hi...
so far i have been making mostly psytrance. I am interested in learning to make some house and electro house too. Any suggestions on where i can find good resources like tutorials, articles etc ?? any good starting points?? any members on here that make house, that i can bother with tons of questions ?? the sorts of sounds and bass etc are so different in these styles of music compared to psytrance. Everytime i try to make a house track, all my psy influences start to leak into the track....and then i just end up making another psy track..hmm anyway...some ideas/help would be super awesome... thanks.. :p |
Sounds like comfort zones in sounds you like using, production and tendancies to make it easy on yourself lead you back to psy.
Best advice for any music styles is listen to some popular and your own favourite house tracks. LIsten to the construction, progression, breakdowns, phrases and sounds. Do you have the right instrument and sound patches for the job? Have you googled? http://www.internetdj.com/article/ho...ouse-music-475 http://www.beatportal.com/feed/item/...k-10-top-tips/ Hope this helps. Keep things in perspective. I ask you how to make a psy track you would probably answer : Progressive, Psychill, Psychedlic Trance, Goa and so on....same for any music genre and sub genres. House covers a massive genre...Scott Todd is classic, Judge Jules mainstream sets. |
Thanks Hobbit...
i shall start listening to and de-constructing some House. Great Info... I do tend to fall into a comfort zone about many things.. :) Thanks for names of artists too.. I like deephouse, electro house and funky house...also the tribal stuff.. First step is to find tracks i like...hmmmm i'll get started.. :p |
I reckon Tribal would be a good route if your into Psy/Goa styles. Interesting to produce with beat textures.
Thing is with house you will probably need a vocal sample/hook to pin the track down and keep it going. If your really into learning aout different styles try 'The Dance Manual 2nd edition' and there's an update one out soon which gives a general breakdown of styles. TBH listen to what you like and as I said groove on from there ;) |
