we could pick 5 or 10 patches to use...and we all demonstrate how we would use that particular sound/patch in music....
i'm curious to know how you guys would interpret certain patches and sounds...and apply them to music..

I think this could be fun. But how would we select the patches?

We used to do this at a computer party in Norway (The Gathering www.gathering.org). We used Reason then. We had to download the patches from an ftp, and create a track from these sounds. We were not allowed to use other sounds. Only the patches from the FTP.
I guess we need the "basic" sounds. Leads, bass, pads and so on?

we can just download any bank from the virus site and decide on which patch numbers and names...it will be common for all of us...no uploading hassles...

As a suggestion Nutrino' why don't you start with a simple selection of maybe 5 patches from the presets and upload them to rapidshare or a similar server. Post the link, people can download ,upload to soundcloud or similar and provide a time frame for submissions.
As long as they are not from other copyrighted soundbanks/patches being redistributed all should be fine :)

This would be a great promo for the Infekted Forum.

There was a Reason forum that put this challenge out years ago, you were only allowed to use the synths as sound-generators.
