Ramp->Triangle->Saw
![]() Is there anyway of getting ramps out of the virus? I cant seem to find the answer anywhere. I have seen people talking about the contour doing this for the LFO but as yet cannot find a way to make the normal oscillators perform what I assumed was a relatively simple thing. |

Closest thing you'll get is modulating the Oscillator Shape parameter between Triangle (PCM waveshape) and Saw (upward sawtooth). To do this, set the Osc1 Shape knob to 32 and change the WaveSel waveform to Tri, then change LFO1 to sine or triangle and set the LFO destination to Osc1Shape with an amount of 32, and a rate of your choice. However even this is simply a crossfade, not an algorithmic morphing ramp like the LFO contours can do. Quote:
I know it would slightly more complex than modulating a ramp waveform via a simple knob, but it would be nice if a future TI could allow you to import your own waveforms and allow you to wavetable between them to create your own transitions. However I'm unable to test on a TI and therefore am not sure how the wavetables are animated - whether the TI simply crossfades between the waveforms in the wavetables (like PCMs) or if the waveforms are algorithmically/vector generated and the wavetable mathematically morphs between them - I am unable to glean this from the manual, although I hazard a guess they're simply all crossfaded. |
thanks for the tip but i want a static ramp wave, to use for bass, i was thinking that maybe using the LFO with some sort of FM or PM would do the trick. Either way thank you.

Might be a nice touch if, when you centre the Osc1 knob to 64 (pure sawtooth), you could use the WaveSel knob to morph from Ramp>Tri>Sawtooth, just as you can do with PCM Select when Osc1 < 63, or PulseWidth when Osc1 > 65.
The WaveSel knob currently does nothing when Osc1 = 64. Maybe a request for Access? Then again it may possibly confuse people if they're getting a Tri waveform out when it should be a ramp or sawtooth, or when Midi CCs are sent, due to the narrow Osc1 = 64 selection. |
Yeah its a tricky one given that the triangle naturally sits in the middle but If it as an added option using the shift+Wave select/PW knob i doubt it would mess with anyones workflow who didn't need to use it as far as i know that knob has not shift function.
