Disappearing VST GUI ... Virus TI.
1 Attachment(s)
Hey everyone.
Really getting tired of my GUI of my TI VSTi disappearing on me half way through a project. I wanted to know if anyone else was having a problem like this... so, we can submit to this to Access to get it fixed. I believe it started happening after the OS V4 updates. Pretty much what happens is ... I'm working on a song, and probably three days after doing a lot of work, my GUI becomes unobtainable. It's just a blank GUI that captures whatever is underneath it. This, therefor, leaves me unable to edit my Virus unless I want to dig into the menu's of my 'Snow' ... and that's not fun, and defeats the purpose of having Total Integration! I added a screenshot in case my description of my problem was hard to understand. System specs: PC Core2Dou Laptop Two Gigs Ram Windows XP SP3 Cubase 6.02 (happened in version 5 as well) Virus TI Snow w/ 4.5 PB OS Oh yes... And the ONLY time Cubase 6 has crashed on me was violation codes with the Virus Plugin. Here is the crash log... =================================================================== Cubase6.exe Version 6.0.2 Build 291 - 10.5.2011 11:45 ------------------------------------------------------------------- Timestamp is 4d939015 (Wed Mar 30 13:18:29 2011) C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase 6\Cubase6.exe ------------------------------------------------------------------- Exception code: C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION Fault address: 7C9113B5 01:000103B5 C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntdll.dll Registers: EAX=2f710007 ECX=7ffdf000 EDX=7c97e140 EBX=3d730fcc ESI=2f70ffff EDI= 00000001 EBP=0012dbc0 EIP=7c9113b5 ESP=0012db88 CS= 0000001b SS= 00000023 Flags=00210206 DS= 00000023 ES= 00000023 FS= 0000003b GS= 00000000 Float Save: Control Word= ffff027f Status Word= ffff0020 Tag Word=ffffffff Error Offset= 33ede11a Error Selector=051c001b Data Offset= 0012da80 Data Selector= ffff0023 Cr0NpxState= 00000000 Bytes at CS:EIP: 8b 08 89 4d d8 8b 40 04 89 45 d4 89 08 89 41 04 6a 08 59 33 c0 8b fe f3 ab 83 4d fc ff e8 93 ff Call stack: Address Frame 7C9113B5 0012DBC0 RtlDeleteCriticalSection+3B 33EDF9D4 0012DBDC 0001:0009E9D4 C:\Program Files\Access Music\Virus TI\Common\Virus Control.dll 33E837CF 0012DBE8 0001:000427CF C:\Program Files\Access Music\Virus TI\Common\Virus Control.dll 33F09730 0012DDEC 0001:000C8730 C:\Program Files\Access Music\Virus TI\Common\Virus Control.dll 33F64AD1 0012DE3C 0001:00123AD1 C:\Program Files\Access Music\Virus TI\Common\Virus Control.dll 33E027C8 0012DE54 PI_GetRoutineDescriptor+CEB8 0109516F 0012DE9C 0001:00C9416F C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase 6\Cubase6.exe Any help, or a fix... words of wisdom would be great! Thanks guys! :) |
I am having a similar problem.... I am not sure but i think it has something to do with "visual c++ run time" ?
Did you solve this issue??? would love to know how maybe it could help me.. I am running Cubase4 |
I have also noticed similar in one Cubase 5 project under Vista. The GUI suddenly no longer pops up at all when I hit an 'edit instrument' button. Had to launch a new project to get it back...

I actually fixed this problem by buying a new computer! Yes, I know not the best way to handle it... But I do believe it was a memory issue. I spent a couple days swapping e-mails with Access tech support and this is what they told me. I didn't want to believe it... but I do now.
How much RAM are you guys running? |
I solved my GUI problem ...
I was using dual screens and by changing my monitor setup back to one screen seems to work, im not sure if that is due to ram or bad drivers or c++. but its a temporary fix for now :-? |

A new computer may be the solution chez Suzzy too. For a start I need a 7200 rpm HDD to run a decent piano program. Still, I'd like to get to the bottom of the case of the disappearing GUI/pop-up. |
Do you still see the outline of the GUI though? That was happening to me, too. Other plug-in GUI's wouldn't load either. I was running 2GB on a laptop as well... FYI.

I just reinstalled latest Cubase 5.5.3 download (should have done that ages ago - duh) and for the moment everything seems to be behaving itself :rolleyes:
