OS5 Is coming soon
|
Great. I'd been checking SonicState everyday during and after NAMM but, after checking again yesterday after being on holiday for four days without internet access, I had given up hope! SonicState always take ages to upload Access Music NAMM vids for some reason. Bah!
Anyway, in short: • Two new, fully assignable ADSTR envelopes available (not before time!) • XFade (crossfade) filter types, morphing between LP<>BP<>HF in four versions (1/2/4/6-pole). • Smooth Varislope filter types, morphing between 1<>6pole slopes in three versions (LP/BP/HF) each with adjustable knee sensitivity. The "peaking filter" (1-pole XFade) is a great addition. I always loved the peaking-filter type on the Roland Grooveboxes which worked along a very similar concept. In the past I've always mimicked it on the Virus by using both filters in parallel mode, the first one being a low-pass left wide open, and the second being a band-pass, and then modulating the bandpass cutoff (without cutoff link) so it peaks above the underlying signal when resonance is used. |
"..that's what we've got so far..."
I wonder what else if any. Looks like they could do a total layout change of the VC I think. have all the filters in one view instead of tabbed etc. Bigger is better. Have all on one screen option, mega 1900x1000 pixels VC! |
Pretty cool. I didn't think we'd hear anything... and I'm kinda curious why we didn't earlier as NAMM has been over for ... what ... a couple weeks?
Any updates Access wants to give is welcome to me, even if they are simple things like this. Looking forward to it. |
Finally...
btw. as far as I remember, when they introduced the first TI, then the Formant and Grain Osc's, it was on the site on the 2nd day of NAMM already, so I think the 'bigger news' are on the top of their list, and a half-ready OS update is not that important -- at least for them, plus, not to mention the alleged internet problem in the hotel, so they couldn't upload videos during their visit in CA... Looking forward to it tho :) now I can spare at least till next year's NAMM, it's more likely they introduce something new hardware-wise as well *.* |
any ideas how to get at the new envelopes from the hardware?
would it be a SHIFT + FILT ENV = ENV 3 sorta thing? |
When I seen those 2 filters, where they've put them, I actually got excited.
