New track - live hardware electronica
Hi!
Check out my new track. It's a test of my "giggable" setup, recorded live using hardware only. Gear: MPC 1000, Virus TI, DSI Evolver, Waldorf Blofeld, Eventide Space, Allen & Heath ZED 10FX, FMR RNC, Novation Remote SL. https://soundcloud.com/grooveboreg/footprint |
Cool track man. Good to see someone else apart from me putting some music up on this part of the forum. I would definitely like to see some pic's of your set up if you could post some, sounds interesting.
The metallic?bell like sounds are way to high in the mix for my ears but overall good job. |

Thanks Berni! The mix isn't perfect, but I do everything in headphones, and it's always hit and miss.
Took a picture of the setup today, glad you asked :D |
Yeah man, you need to get some decent monitors. Set up looks really cool man, tweak city :)

Actually, I have decent monitors (active Tannoy Reveal). What I really need is a separate studio space, since the only time for music-making is at night when wife and kids are asleep :D

Seem's like we need to fix the problem Mr Torrance.

Yeah, it's hard to mix with headphones alright! I agree with Berni's tips here!
Just one thing do add: be aware that you shouldn't make mix decisions after a few hours working with the track. One common thing after long periods of working is that your sensitivity to higher frequencies decreases - most specially when working with headphones. So you'll feel tempted to compensate and get those higher frequencies back, thus producing a mix with extra sizzle, not really well balanced. Happens to all! If you can manage some time during the day with the speakers, normal television levels will do (I think it's good to mix at lower levels myself), balance those levels again carefully with fresh ears. Working with bounced down groups of audio makes it easier to! Always better to correct it like this then to apply an EQ during Mastering! Anyways, good job! Cheerios |
