Ableton won't record Virus TI automation, until I restart Ableton
 

Title pretty much says it all.
Having updated my template recently, the Virus Control is now in a state where it won't record automation when opening the template. if I save the project and restart Ableton, it records no problem.

Anyone have a solution or explanation for this?

A while back I experienced a similar issue, where opening projects already having automation, the VC seemingly didn't have those parameters available anymore; they were greyed out in Ableton. I then had to actually delete the plugin and re-record automation or go through some arduous copy-paste workaround. IIRC, I solved this by starting to use the VST3 version, which is the one I'm currently using.

TBH you are lucky the software is running on your system at all, it hasn't had an update in years. If you are on a mac it wont work on any OS from catalina onwards...
