Hell no, you dont actually need a software editor for the DX7 to make good sounds. I know what all the functions do....its just a case of experimenting and trusting your ears - something you have to get used to if your planning on making your own sounds on any synth.

Besides....back in 1983-1985 (when alot of the most classic presets were programmed) do you think they used software editors then? I expect not....alot of time and hardwork suffices.

* I will say one thing.....because of its architecture...the DX7 series is great for making all kinds of unusual waveforms.....i cant wait to run them through some analog filters and FX

The SynthWizard has some advice - Back in the 1980's music was better, TV was better, films were better. Not to mention fashion.... Let me help you relive the past with some classic 80's sounds from my vintage synth collection....
