I think I saw a thread about this subject a while back, but was unable to find it. This coming spring when tax returns are in effect, I'm planning on aquiring a new workstation. I've went to multiple places getting quotes on a custom system but the prices are exceeding my funds. Mostly due to the outrageous mark-ups on components ( not so much the labor involved ) but the prices I'm getting on the components are ridiculous.


So................. I'm thinking about building my own system. I can utilise places like pricewatch.com and keep evrything under budget. The impending difficulty factor is why I'm posting this topic though.
I do have someone to stand over my shoulder, ( part-time ) to walk me through the process. And maybe an up to date book on the subject can help me out? I'm pretty sure I can do it, but I do want to hear some feedback from other people's experiences and any tips if available. thanks.
