Fake trees are excellent these days! Had one as our main tree for several years now. A great investment.
Real non-needle-dropping trees still always drop their needles, meh.
Also bought a small 3' real tree in a pot a couple of years ago which we put in the back room but it's too wide now so we've put it outside in a bigger pot and gonna stick some outdoor lights on it to give a bit of depth in the garden.
Meccano was great! Loved it. A proper lad's toy. Used to be a bit of a Technical Lego freak around that age, too. Taught me a lot about spatial-awareness. Seems they've really dumbed it down now, though.
