Wow! What a post.
Unforunately, I do not use Mac or Logic, but I will still try to help.
First, to use VC, you must have at least one MIDI track. You must open Virus TI Plug-In (VC) in VST instruments (does Logic use VST?). You must set destination of said track to "Virus TI" or "Virus TI Synth". These are the steps I must do in Cubase SX2.
1: Yes. Set up MIDI tracks in Logic for each channel with their destination being "Virus TI". Plug MIDI OUT from hradware sequencer into Audiophile with Audiophile chosen as Logic's soundcard. Sounds should play. You may have to set the MAIN OUT in VC in the COMMON page to other than USB 1 or 2, selecting an physical out. That lets u use the MASTER VOL knob.
2: I think so, but not sure. I believe you can import the patch MIDI file into the sequencer, set TI to Receive Dump, and press play.
3: You may need to do a Driver re-install. Attempt un-installing Access Virus altogether and doing re-install with latest OS. You can use TI as USB MIDI port w/o using it as a souncard, but the manual does not recommend to do so while using VC. Otherwise, for me & Cubase, I can only use 1 soundcard at a time. They do not all work together. I have the Virus TI, Yamaha Motif w/mLan, and MOTU 828mkII, all of which act as soundcards, none of which will operate simultaneously.
4: See beginning of my post.
5: I only have Cubase, and my friends as well. We all find it fairly simple to use. I used to have Cakewalk ProAudio. It was before this generation of DAW and it was garbage compared to Cubase. I'm sure Sonar is much better & probably as good as Cubase. I'm under the impression that Ableton Live is best for "Live" performances, but I've never used it. I also have not used Logic, but I hear that it is amazing. As for the LE version, are u sure it is compatible?
6: I'm sure this requires VC to be activated, though I've never tried to open it.
I hope this helps. I'm not sure how much different it is for Cubase vs Logic and PC vs Mac.
