Mates, I was so lucky to catch that morning on the lake. The kids and I had struck camp in the sauna cottage's chill room, which was a bit of a squeeze, but much more fun than being in the proper cottage behind us where Finnish Granny ("Mummo") was. That particular morning, Susan gave me a good kick and woke me up bless her and I had to go outside and pee. I was just totally awestruck by the view and grabbed the camera and went out in the boat. There are some days when you're just blessed and 29.07 was one. The mist was just racing up off the surface of the lake and it was like rowing through the sky. Then the sun appeared above the trees and smacked me. Dude, I was a viking god rowing that sun across the sky. Far out, eh? Later that day we walked up into the hills and that's the pic of the kids. On the way down we saw the baby elk. There are reindeer all over the place, but to catch an elk was brilliant. First I've ever seen in 15 years in Finland. It even started walking towards us and checked us out. To cap it all, we caught a small pike in the evening. Very tasty! What a day!
