seriously there was a lot of work involved in this project, for instance, reverse engineering the virus to work without the daughter board, fabricating transformer boards for the bus power, a lot of soldering and desoldering of components, rerouting of the main volume knob, mounting issues, etc.. . Its not as easy as just slapping the parts in a box and calling it a day. There were a lot of tricky design decisions made, and the risk of ruining all the parts involved.
the auction is set up for "best offer" which means you can send me a lower offer for my consideration. but at $2599, I think is very fair considering the work involved, the cost of the parts, the design, and the risks taken.
but in the end the value of this piece is really different for everybody.. If you are an international traveling musician who uses the sound of these two wicked synth's a lot, $2k - $2600 really not a bad price at all.
the original gear alone is heavy, cumbersome, and requrires a ton of cables not to mention wall power and a 2x2 midi interface just to get working. My solution requires 2 usb cables and a fw cable.
just wanted to add that the 1/4" Atomizer and Audio Input jacks are still intact and accessable from the back so this functionality has not been taken away. the Nord Modular inputs are intact and accesable as well for its vocoder and processing cababilities.
