virus (as hardware - not VST) connected to x-station
... plays but does not appear in cubase's mixer. The main implication is it doesn't get exported as audio.
Technically, I think it should somehow. X-station has its own soundcard and that's the one I set to in cubase. It has two microphone inputs (L/R).
What are the necessary settings for this to work?
