I don't know about USB....But if your doing this(PCI) With Firewire you need a Card with Texas instruments Chips on it....
I used to Have a M-Audio firewire 410 and it would
only run on my Laptop with a PCMCIA Firewire card with Texas Instrument CHIPS on it...
