Modern youth is spoiled by all this hitech stuff with synth modellings and FX's.
I tried out FT2 some time ago just to taste the sweet nostalgia and damn it was cryptic program. It was so clumsy to make anything with it. I still remember the old days when every function was in the backbone and making tracks was a breeze. The only FX's possible were a delay and a clumsy chorus. Of course the maximum of 32 tracks limited the use of these FX tricks.
It's funny that the programs were so crappy that they forced you to be innovative. Restricting yourself is a good thing from time to time.

hehe
i've used all the trackers, and i've used all the major sequencers (cubase, logic, sonar, reason etc)..
www.renoise.org - a tracker, but just as good as any of the above mentioned tools. but its a bit harder to learn. and confusing to people who dont know what a tracker is.

My monster-computer (233mhz, 128 ram and a 2 gig harddrive) running windows 95 SE has FT2 installed and i play with ft2 from time to time. Great program - I love the way you do the delay effects in that program - and when i still had all the parts i usually booted my amiga 500 up and did listen to old tunes i did back in Protracker on the amiga.
