sequencers
What do you guys use to sequence your music ?
An mpc , a groovebox , the yamaha qy700 or do you guys work the soft-sequencers like digital performer , cubase or logic etc...
Just curious.

Cubase SX here!
I started using Cubase when it was Cubase VST 5, which was on PC, then when I bought my Apple G5 I had to make the decision to stay with Cubase, or move onto something like Logic or Pro Tools. I decided to stick with what I was familiar with, and I think it was the right decision.
At some point though, I would like to upgrade to Pro Tools HD system, but that wont be happening for some time.
I have never actually used a hardware sequencer.
Cheers,
Jase

I moved up to Cubase years ago after realizing the drawbacks of using Reason, Kontact for sampler.

Been using Cubase since age 13 (now 28 - Over half my life!)
Have tried others but always come back to Cubase.

Wow , those protools HD systems are mad expensive , 7.706,49 ? for the cheapest version. I know it looks like a great product , and i bet that solves all your pc hardware and memory problems But for that kind of money i would also like some kind of controller for protools included .
Everybody using software sequencers , i kinda expected that , it's strange how few people use hardware sequencers , is it too expensive or are those hardware sequencers too limited in functions compared to softsequencers? I saw a review on the yamaha qy700 and it looked pretty promising for a hardware sequencer. My first piece of gear was an RM1X sequence remixer from yamaha , and i totally loved that piece of gear , very easy to use and a lot of options , at least for me as a rookie musician, that's a hardware sequencer too.
I currently use an mpc1000 for my sequencing but it's really limitted compared to cubase , it's 10 times more fun and faster to work with , but your stuck with just midi notes , bad cutting/pasting , no automation, etc...
But the great thing bout the mpc100 is jamming , you can allmost make an entire song without having to stop the music playing , just select a track press record and do your thing , select next track , record and voila.
I think i'll be digging for a good way to use cubase and the mpc together , i think i'll sync them and use my mpc for drums (witch it's actually made for ) and cubase for sounds.
Anyway , why did you go for the sequencer you're currently digging?

Logic Pro 7.1 here. A complete studio in a box. Great music can be made with its bundled plugs.

SX 2
i think the reason why people use soft synths is because of daw recordings... much more comfortable and most of the time cheaper to build an entire massive setup dou to plugin suport...
visual editing and audio support is something i cant see giving up some quickly.
