Default Digi 002 or Cubase/Logic?

Guys....most of you have spent lots of money and im intrigued to know what your using. Did any of you ever consider using the 002? Do any of you currently use it?

Im just trying to weigh up the pro's and con's of going the 002 route. In terms of sound quality and flexibility....how does the 002 rate? Better sound quality than a Delta1010 running with Cubase SX?

Does the TI run with 002 and ProTools LE?

Thoughts and opinions are welcome.

i have heard MIDI is not as good on pro tools as it is on logic or cubase. What i mean is it is not as tight. Dont know much else about the 002.

The preamp&convertors are avarage, the controlers feel cheap and pro tools is not for everyone.

Im happy with cubase.

For the same money you can get a software sequencer,
midi controler,soundcard & A good mono preamp.
i think this combi is much better.

Imo,the only reason to consider using protools is if your using an HD system.

Pro Tools is a decent Multi track tape replacer, but a very poor sequencer, I`m afraid. I worked with it for years in studios and personally owns a MBOX2 unit, but I much prefer working with Nuendo \ cubase for just about every task I can think of.

get a SX \ RME combo. you would never look back. trust me.

Best,
midi.

I have a friend that currently uses a Digi 002 along with ProTools LE and it works great for him, also works great with Acid, Ableton and various other programs, it is a nice interface( albeit an overly expensive set-up ) I think a really nice altenative would be an RME interface coupled with a Behringer BCF2000.
( automated sliders and just an all around nice controller for $200 )

As far as Cubase SX, Logic and Pro Tools goes,............... I'd consider jumping ship.
(edited I've read about your love of Cubase SX/ Logic, dont want to start a flame war here.)

Samplitude 8 pro is out and incredibly sweet, and definitely worth checking out.

I have the 002 but it is at someone else's house at the moment. Pro-Tools LE that comes with it has improved heaps in the last few years, particularly in the midi implementation. I can't really compare it to Cubase for sound quality or ease of use having not really used Cubase.

Midi, what version of Pro-tools were you using?

The biggest drawback is that pro-tools uses RTAS plugins and doesn't support VST, so the TI won't work as a plugin. There is a VST to RTAS program but given the problems people are experiencing using VirusControl natively, I wouldn't expect it to work with the converter.

Unless you are going to use Pro-Tools I can't see why you would get the 002 as like Tomer said, you can get more bang for your buck getting a good quality soundcard, etc.

I`m using 6.8.1

with all the impruvments, PT is still far behind the curve as a midi sequencer \ virtual Studio and keeps playing catch up to other products. the LE version in particular is a joke (no PDC and only 32 mono 'voices').

Best,
midi.

The 32 voices deal was my biggest gripe with Pro Tools, not too long ago I was using 6.4 and I could make it work and there are ways to get around it's limitations, ( albeit your just making more work for yourself ) but you'd expect to get more out of it, due to what you're spending on it. It's not a cheap program, and the program only works with specific interfaces ( digi + M-audio ). I second what someone above me said about not bothering with it unless your using an HD set-up.

I know this is off-topic, but I've read in various other post's your currently working with a M-Audio Delta 10/10. Did you ever have problems using Soundiver via the 10/10? I was trying to use a 24/96 and Soundiver and I always had communication issues with it. It was'nt until I switched from the 24/96 to a Digi 001 ( BTW my KC works flawlessly with my digi 001, would assume the same with TI/002 set-up )that I could actually use Soundiver, ( dont use it now, but at the time was curious )
