Default Midisport 8x8

Mines hangs up all the time and I have to reboot the PC constantly.
XP, Cubase SX3 (see below).

Does anyone else have issues with this product?

Can anyone recommend a more stable alternative?

Cheers

first of all we need to know witch of the ports your're using

the simple serial bus ore the USB ? So if you're using the USB connection unter os XP i thinkt you should have installed service pack 2 and the right driver - just try to get the newest driver for the system, perhaps this will solve the problem.

and if not: did it work before ? Where did you buy it ... maybe you might have a damaged unit, but i don't think so - sounds more like a driver/incompatiblity problem.

Hi, thanks.

USB'd to the PC, latest driver, XP service pack 1.
I'm sure its a compatability issue.

It works for a bit then the midi functionality cuts out, reboot the PC and go through the cycle again and again.

I've had a look around other sites and apparently lots of people have issues with it, mostly XP users.

Their tech support is absolutely shite and were no help whatsoever.

The unit is currently only fit for the rubbish bin, so i'll sell it on Ebay if I dont get a fix

XP has some problems with "not-digital-signed" drivers ... especially USB ones

just try to install servica pack 2, for me this solved most of the problems with USB hardware

look for a MOTU MIDI EXPRESS XT, they're not that expencive

here's an ebay auction ... for about 50$, MOTU is a reliable brand - you can't go wrong with them.

I have an Edirol UM-880 - never had any trouble with it, latency seem good as well.

Though Im thinking of replacing it with something that has a midi clock / sync generator and distribution...
