Picked up a classic sequencer tonight, probably the greatest ever standalone sequencer ever made.
Its a big beasty though, pushed the Mac laptop off the desk forsure.

But...here's the biggy, the TI arpeggiator keeps PERFECT time !
Nope, no drift, no sync death, no nothing, just rock solid time keeping.
I'll play more during the week, lets see if i can get it to hiccup.

Wow, that is a piece of history indeed!!!

Can you explain how hardware sequencers work? I've never really understood, for example. how I can hook up say, 3 or 4 synths to a hardware MIDI sequencer? Do they have numerous MIDI out ports??? Sorry for the n00b questions, but I guess I dont know much about these things...

Cheers,

Jase

Yup, it has four midi outputs, and any of the 99 tracks can go to any midi channel on any port, it also has two midi inputs which can be routed in a similar way.

It also has pre-quantisation, in other words it quantises as you record, and importantly, you can set it to quantise before or after the note in case you play like the jazz guys and lead the beat, or like classical and pop where we follow the downbeat.

It has track independant looping modes, its a beaut in fact.
