GarageBand Alternative
Hi guys, its been a while.
I was wondering if anyone knew a REALLY easy music making program for a bass player with no midi experience?
See, my brother plays bass(and i bit drums) and i would like to get him into electronic music, or digital backings for when he plays the bass because the songs he creates dosnt really sound very good when it exists of only a bass. Unfortunatly.
I was thinking of Apples Garageband, but then i realized he uses a Windows and he's not throwing that away for sure, its like $2000.
Have anybody had any experiences like this, or with a program that you think will suit an electronic "n00b" like him?
Regards,
T7 - Daniel Rothmann

So does he want to just make some backing tracks, or does he want to record his bass aswell???
If it is just to make some simple rhythm backing tracks, he could try FruityLoops or Reason or some other thing like that.
Otherwise, cubase and Reason might be good, but they do have a learning curve, and he will definately have to start getting the basics of MIDI.

Yeah, good idea actually. Simple enough to get some basic rhythm parts for him to play along to. All he needs is a few sample CD's....

So what. If he?s only gonna use it for some backing for bass-playing he will do fine. I usually record most of my traks as MIDI and record them one at a time to audio and i?ve survived until now

what about people who wish to do multi track recording?
i think abelton should add that feature. their sequencer is realy one of the best and most intuative out there.

I was speaking of this specific situation. Not in general...

Sounds right! He'll need some drumloops ect. cause all he wanna do is to make backings for his bass(and record).
