Default Planet Mars

You may all be aware of this but Mars is about to come closer to our planet as it ever has over the last 50,000 years!

It will get as close as 34,649,589 miles away and will appear as big as the moon.

Throughout August you should see the red planet get bigger and bigger in the sky culminating to the closest azimuth at 3 a.m (western time) on the 27th August.

You should tell everyone you know as they will never have an opportunity to see this again in their lifetimes. It is caluclated that the next time this will happen will be in 60,000 years time!

Happy planet watching...

Drammy

umm no.

On the 27th of August mars will be about 385 million kms away. It was at it's closest point for 60,000 years on 27th august 2003, but even then it didn't look anywhere near as big as the moon, in fact it looked about the size of a quarter 200 metres away.

who's the nerd? I'm the fucking nerd!
