Hehe, that was an absolute classic that one!
The good ol' "batsu" game ("batsu" game is something happens to you if you lose or make a mistake) is a nice way to teach English, although once I played a batsu game (real story) with a bunch of junior high students. If they were the last to try and answer the other students had persmission to draw on the loser with pen - one 15 yr old boy started to cry!!
That shows 2 major cultural differences:
1. If that happened in Aus, the 15 yr old boy wouldn't have cried, but thrust his pen into someone else's arm.
2. I probably would be in court for promoting humiliation in class.
Fuck I'm glad I don't teach kids anymore!
