Default XP SP2 or not?

I'm getting Sonar 6 tomorrow and I fancy doing a reformat of the whole drive ready for it.

Should I install XP service pack 2?

It's only being used for music and video production. No interwebs or word processing or owt.

xx

Cheers mate. That is a good site for tips. I set up my current configuration from that.

What are the (dis)advantages for a DAW with SP2 on a non-internet drive?

I had SP2 installed with Sonar 2 and it worked fine. Very occasionally froze using vsti's, but always put that down to the vsti adaptor.

well, there is a lot of extra security services that aren't needed if your daw won't be connected to the internet. Things like the built in firewall are enabled by default etc.

SP2 does offer some stability and that is why I recommend going ahead and installing it. Just be sure to turn off what you don't need.

I'd say yes, go for it.

I initially held off for a few months to gauge the feedback and see if there were SP2 fixes coming out!! When I eventually did the upgrade (many months ago now) everything worked perfectly 1st time.
