Well... how can a brass enthusiast not answer that type of question simply eh...
I started playing trumpet when I was 11 by making a farting sound out of one my then new and enthusiastic music teacher brought into class. Moved to Cornet within a few months, and have been playing on and off since then for 32 years. I am so lucky and feel very honoured and privileged to have done the RAH several times, played at other notable venues around the UK, I played at our wedding, I played Ave Maria at my beloved Mums funeral, won a few competitions and awards, recorded on several CD's, on radio et al.
More recently (10 years ago) I started conducting and was fortunate to have had some success at that too. I just don't have so much free time nowadays - I am a Dad to 2 kids, self employed and a synth geek now - but it's flattering that I regularly get calls to MD or play.
Besides, I started tMP 4 years ago and find myself delivering 4,000,000 pages to avid brass enthusiasts around the globe per week now!!! that certainly keeps me well occupied.
Did you get onto tMP...?
