Do not be so terribly rough on your psyche, as every one of us are learning (hopefully) everyday something new about our instrument(s), and the only stupid question is one that is not asked either to one's self or to others, even if the answer may be as it usually is, directly in front of us! This of course has a huge variable when engineers author musician-thinking user manuals and why forums such as these are so very helpful in locating the needles in the haystacks!
Welcome! Pretty new here myself but not to synthesis. With that said, just about every deeply capable synth will continue to challenge no matter how far one travels down it's 'rabbit hole'. Even though the technique for say subtractive synthesis and it's tweakable parameters remain more or less a constant, the user interface's menu-diving and different paths within that 'rabbit hole' usually each have their unique methods (of even madness at times); the more one learns, the more we realize we have yet to learn. That also is indicative of a great instrument.
Lastly, wherever one is with their playing ability and knowledge of an instrument, we need to always remember the incredible distinction between ignorance and stupidity. Ignorance is simply not having the awareness of the information; stupidity is being totally aware of the knowledge but not utilizing it.
I wager that some day a person will have same problem, conduct a search on this forum and thanks to your posting of the FX send within outboard mixer being the answer, it will surely live-on to assist others and it's why a friendly forum environment lowers ego and inhibitations so we may all learn from each other!
Now, back into my modulation rabbit hole I go...
