Default Very much a newbie....

Hello all. I'm Bill. Dare I admit that I do not yet own a Virus, but that will change in the near future, as I'm just trying to decide which model(s) is right for my needs.

Anyway, I'm a bit of a producer/engineer, but really only for myself and my friends (because they're broke and I'm the one with the project studio, guess who just became a producer! LOL). I'm a musician for a living, and I'm currently working in an industrial band.
Industrial and modern glam-electro-rock are sorta my mainstays, so I'll probably be in the minority in that respect.

But the Virus totally kicks ass, I'll have one in my arsenal in a week or two. For synths right now I'm using a Triton Pro-X w/MOSS, and also controlling Absynth, FM7, and Waldorf A1.

Welcome. You may hear of Hollowcell. He was on this forum before he had a virus too.

You ever hear of a Machinedrum? I think it would be up you alley for industrial and electro.

By the way, do know of Ectomorph or Adult.? Ghostly International label?

Ooh ooh, yeah! Machinedrums are cool. I may well look into getting one, after I get my Virus (it's the #1 priority right now )

Ok, I'm gonna ask a dumb newbie question: At the local music store, they have a 'C' desktop and a 'B' rack (or 'normal' rack or 'whatever the hell the red-rack is' rack) setup, both going off the same controller keyboard. Well, when I mix the sounds together, 98% of the time it is SOOO cool, I'm wondering if I shouldn't buy them both and mix it together at home. But then I think this would probably be a waste of money, because I'm just using them in program mode and I know they have a multi- or combi- mode or something to that effect, anyway. (you'll have to forgive me for not knowing the proper vernacular for different modes and such).....

I dunno. What do you think?

One virus should be enough for about 5 years. I wouldn't get a second one mainly because there is so much polyphony. Plus if you have another synth soft va or real analog it must be like "cracking a walnut with a hammer", to quote BC.

save your money for something like a machinedrum. Can you tell I love it? Also expect the monomachine from elektron to have a good sequencing synth.
