Default What soundcard should i buy? (Solved)

Hi.

I really need a new soundcard (i use an old soundblaster live that chops my sound to pieces) but the big question is: Witch one??? I run Windows XP and use Cubase SE as sequenser. I don?t need a bunch of audio I/O because i have an external mixer and i have a seperate MIDI-interface so that i don?t need either. I just need some nice quality PCI soundcard (not too expensive) that i can make some nice recordings with. Maybe some nice effects also. Any suggestions?

Onkel Dunkel.

if you want dsp along with it the creamware pulsar 2 or the smaller (half the dsp power,3) is a great solution for good a-d convertors and dsp prosessors.
wide selection of mixing tools, reverbs, guitar fx,analog compressor emulations, synths and powerful modular.

oh wait... what exacly is your budget?

if your on a realy realy tight budget you should try the new emu cards. they are very cheap, around 180 $ i think for the 1212 model.

Well it dosn?t have to be super-cheap but then again i don?t wanna pay for something i?m not ganna use. About the 1212, a guy from my work bought the 1212 and he has some trouble with it messing the rest of his system up. Don?t know if he got it sorted. Anyway it costs more than 180$ in Denmark. Things are more expensive here
I was thinking ESI Juli@ (comes in a cheap SampleTank 2L bundle i Denmark) or maybe M-Audio Audiophile 2496. I think they meet my needs. Any comments?

Sounds like you want a simple card, so the Audiophile could be a good choice. Stable, plus well and truely tested.

The RME range are very well regarded......

Also, check out a brand called "LYNX"....or that might be a model number??? Not too sure...but they come highly recommended by alot of the people in the know..

Good Luck!

I had a SB Audigy card and then got an Audiophile 2496 which I can recommend, it's a cheaper option but it's a very good one.

Got a Motu 896 and can't recommend it enough. The sound is perfect.
