Sounds like the controller and Virus are speaking different dialects of MIDI....

Maybe something simple......what about your MIDI connections?

Controller MIDI out---------->Virus MIDI in (Obviously) and it should work

How about settings on the Virus, or MIDI channel settings on the controller?

Hope you sort it out

Merry X-mas!!!!!

Ummm......

It would probably be in your best interest to upgrade your soundcard, and buy a dedicated MIDI interface (min.2x2)

But this doesnt help you now.....

I think you may have to plug/unplug MIDI cables depending on what you want to do.

Sorry, my head is a bit messy at the moment, and I cant think properly. Can someone out there speak better MIDI than me?

What I do is have all MIDI i/o from each synth going into a MIDI interface, which is connected to DAW via USB, and then my controlllers MIDI out to a spare in port on the MIDI interface.

Then, in my sequencer, I can control any synth from my controller, by selecting the appropriate MIDI i/o. EASY!!!!!! I get confused when you have to work around things, with Thru's etc.....It fucks with my head

Good luck dude!

I got an Evolution 449C for Christmas so I just read the manual

It would be like:

Computer <--USB--> Evolution --MIDI--> Virus --MIDI--> Computer

Plug the Evolution into your computer using USB, that takes care of controller -> computer.

Plug the Evolution MIDI out into the Virus MIDI in, that takes care of controller -> computer.

Plug the Virus MIDI out into the sound card MIDI in, that takes care of Virus -> computer.

Since the Evolution can also act as a USB MIDI interface, you already have the computer -> Evolution -> Virus connection, although it may be better to just physically switch the cables when you're doing much work with the Virus and computer, I'm not sure about latency of the Evolution.

EDIT: Also, I *think* your sequencer should be able to route controller data through the computer to the Virus if you want to do something like:

Virus <--MIDI--> Computer <--USB--> Evolution
