have a listen if you care to...
the song I've been working on this week:
www.suckstar.com/the_assumed.mp3
it's about 1/2 done, still needs vox, bass, quite a bit more drum work, and stretching to 4 minutes, but you'll get a feel for the basic arrangement.
(I get asked alot about what I do for guitar, everyone seems to like the guitar tone I get. It's Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier/Marshall 1960/sm57 or R121/Great River ME-1NV on the heavy. DI through Great River/Distressor for the clean.) But I suppose there's probably fewer guitar freaks here than in other places...so:
synths used in this song: Virus KB, Zebra, Absynth 2, um, I guess that's it. Most of the synth parts will eventually be ran out to some analog gear and back in during final mixing, but that's probably not for a few weeks, as I have to have all my rough mixes finished by August 31.

Cool....The start almost reminds me of some of the newer King Crimson stuff, really industrial, atmospheric....
Nice work on the guitars, drums sound very tough. Synths have a very aggressive and hard edge.
Nice work Panopticon!

Well, as much as I'd like to say 'microphones,' I am currently without drummer, (and you really don't want me to sit down at a kit). The drums on this are LinPlug's RMIV. The kick and tom sounds are going to stay, I think, and I'll end up replacing the cymbals and maybe the snare with dfhSuperior. I used to do all my drums in Superior, but for most things now I do scratch tracks with RMIV (for speed), and then replace what's needed later (for accuracy). The cymbals and snares in Superior are pretty spectacular...

At last Panopticon! I was wondering when you would put something up.
Great to know the sort of thing you're into mate.
Nothing I can pick out of place as far as the production goes. The guitars really stand out for me in this track though - specially the delayed, panned ones at the start.
Even though it took 15 mintues to DL I'm glad I did. When I have time at work I'l be DLing all the other new tunes that are up from everybody.

Very good. I like the transition from the "nice" intro guitar to the hard distorted guitar. Nice job
