Default Ongoing problem with Virus classic & logic 7.1

First of all hi im a newbie just purchased my virus classic last month im having a major problem

Im using a powerbook 1.5ghz/1.5gig ram, M audio audiophile firewire latest drivers installed, Logic 7.1

I have the virus connected via midi to the interface(m audio midi out to classics midi in) and have the audio running into my mixing desk. When i record the midi into logic it always sounds out and not as i played it, when i quantize the pattern it then totally changes what i recorded into logic, basically i have major latency issues

please help much apprecieted its driving me mad so much
