Monitors....HELP
Hi everyone,we need your help....
We got a set of Genelecs 1031a
We think there S***
We produce Trance music...
When we finish a song and go and play it in the car it sounds so different it's Unbelievable. we find the Low bass Frequencies don't even get touched with the Genelecs..We need a set of Monitors that do not Lie in all Frequencies especially the low Frequencies (Good for Trance music)... !!!!!
so Were going to sell the Genelecs and get some new ones with the cash....
We are looking at spending up to 1000 Euros/Dollars that about 700 pounds.......
Cheers Chaps................. :P

hi,man
do you have listened the new Studio Precision series of Event.?
you can check out : event asp6 or asp8
they are incredible!
event asp8 (all frecuencies are very detailed and low frecuencies are the best in definition and precision ,for me ,in this price. It is due to a envolvent and spacial double bass reflex. 8O
you need a mid-room dimension o acustical-work room for them.
event asp6 is very similar but it?s more useful for small rooms or studios.
best for you ,listen and choose

Well, I havn`t met to many people who consider the 1031a`s to be shit! they usually considered to be quite good (though overpriced). perhaps the actual problem lay within your mixing environment, not the monitors.
what size is your room? is it properly treated ?
would be kinda useless to throw money at a new set of monitors when your current ones are perfectly good...
Best,
midi.

Hey
We're working with the Genelec 1029A together with the corresponding subwoofer and get a very defined sound! Maybe you should try these older model ... (we're doing trance as well - if you like check our website for sound samples)
Actually I think, the Genelecs speaker are very recommendable!
Cheers,
glen

hey girl next door.
i use the MACKIE HR624 SET WHICH would be interesting for you to look at.
they are impeccably clear and apparently even according to tests aqnd reviews.
i took them home from a shop for testing and bought them straight away.
it would be good if you could test them as well

DO not blame it on the monitors.
it might just be that your room is crap.
you didnt mentions if it is acusticly treated or not,and if so how\with what.

Using a Genelec 1029a/1091a combo here in a bedroom setup. Lovely for production, sound quality and clarity is very good. Sub is very cool for checking how the bass/kick will sound.

A pair of car speakers for reference in your studio would help for a comparison when setting up the Gen's, and your room acoustics!

Just out of interest what position in the room do you have your monitors?
Are they in the center of the room away from the walls? or up against the walls?
