Default Congas

Ok its been driving me kind of mad recently. I have been trying to pitch my congas to the tune of my track. I know the way the congas are supposed to hit within my track which is not the problem.

I know this is silly but here is a quick example to give you an understanding of what I'm looking for.

Here is a sample.

Move the song to the end of the track.

I have been trying to program this on my Proteus2000 and seems kind of tedious. It could be a combination of two or three different congas being hit with different velocity and pitched differently or phased.

Has anyone created nice conga sounds that can give the effect I'm looking for? Or maybe people are just sampling conga loops and putting heavy effects on them. Hmmmm...

Maybe I should look into Battery or Kontakt.

Any opinions?

simple pitch shifting is what your looking for.

a must for every elec. producer

Reason? Hmmm How do u use it? Through Rewire?

I just need some congas to be properly pitched without sounding so out of tune. Know what I mean?

Thanks for the tips though. I'll give it a whirl.

Yeh via rewire.

v3 has quite a few decent perc samples in it, also a few perc kits velocity mapped in the NN-XT samper.

I think though that quite a bit of the variation you are hearing in that clip is as a result of compression applied over the rhythm track. The kick will affect the compressor significantly and cause different characters to be brought out in the perc samples.

The effect is quite easy to reproduce in reason with a similar perc pattern over a heavy kick and some jheavy, but well tuned compression over the whole rhythm part.

How you actually do it is... Like "Call on me" By "Eric what?s his face" Where the Pad pumps back and forth in rhythm with the Percussion.
You load up a VST compressor on the track you want to pump (pads for example).then you "sidechain" that Vst compressor to the track with the Percussion (Drums) on it.and then adjust the compressor till you get the sound your looking for.That in and out or up and down pumping sound funny you should mention it,were using it for a house remix at the moment.....

Ok some great tips. Thanks fellas.

Looks like I'm going to have to use VSTs to do this one because I have some outboard gear, but not alot of outboard effects.

I'll have a bit more options with VSTs and effects if I go this route.

Appreciate the information.
