I can't even begin to start making a vocoder patch...
I don't understand the vocoder section on my virus KC at all; I can't even start a vocoder patch
I hate using presets, so I was wondering if someone could send me a 'blank' vocoder patch like an init patch for vocorders in sysex form (I can't send .mid patches to my virus)
I would like to have a starting point at least.
I am looking to make the typical 'robot' vocoder voice
An example of this is http://www.myspace.com/norway2
The song is 'it's only pop' - that's exactly what I want to make,
an intelligible vocoder voice I can sing though.
Any suggestions?

Hello and welcome to the forum
There is a member lurking around here called HollowCell (HC) and he's the Virus Vocoder guru. He loves them...and i've heard he's pretty damn good at making really clear robot voices with the virus....
HC come here bud and share your thoughts...

He's pulling your chain Matt. I hate the Vocoda on the VirusC and I'm always asking Virus to get rid of it to make space for something else.
There's only one way to make the Virus sound good when Vocoding, and that's to use it as the carrier while Vocoding with another machine.
Sorry I can't be of more help than that.

Arent patches B110-B126 all Vocoder patches? I would start there mate... But yeah, I kinda agree with others here, if you want to get a good vocoder from the Virus, unplug it, put it to one side, and then maybe use a softsynth or something.
There is a program by NI called Vokator, and I used to have a plug called Orange Vocoder that was OK...

I've tried many, many vocoder's..........there are only 3 that I have found that do a good job emulating the classic 'Robot' sound : Ms2000/Microkorg , Electrix Warpfactory & The Next! Vocoder (I believe the Beastie boy's used it on 'Intergalactic').

I gave the Virus a chance and made a patch from scratch. This is the closest i could get to the robotvoice vocoder sounds

That's really too bad I was looking forward to this being a great vocoder too.
BTW teengirllust: I thought the vocoder on the ms2000/microkorg was one of the worst I?ve ever used- Do you have an mp3 of the robot voice you got?
oh I just watched the video on the electrix warpfactory website, I think I?m going to go with that one.
thanks
