Aye. They looked like something taken from a 80ies "futuristic movie about rollerblades gangs ruling the street with.. err.. something something and the cops can't do anything until.. One drunken cop acctually sobers up for 2 hours while shooting this actionpacked movie about love, glory, friendship and just plain old vanilla icecream!"

In about 1980 or 81 I was at one of the Startbahn West demos in Frankfurt. Made a deep impression on a 19 year old English kid having German riot police beating the shit out of him.. I ran like fuck! Some piccies of that here:

Wouldnt mind one of those chunky mercedes vans they are getting around in... My poor old VW Transporter is looking a little worse for wear at the moment (too many treks up potholed dirt roads with large active pa's in the back - and I learnt not to cut corners on back roads... the hard way)

European cops get all the gear!
