A puzzle
If I'd drill a hole through Earth and then drop The Collected works of V.I.Lenin in the pit, would the printed Lenin fly through the Earth into space or does it get stuck inthe middle of the Earth becoming the center of the world?

If I would jump to that hole to see if the Lenin is at the center of the earth, would I explode when I reach the center due the gravitation forces that tear me in every known direction around the center point?

It'd probably accelerate, then get stuck in t'middle. That's the centre of gravity (in our little region of space) so it'll be pulling everything toward it.
Otherwise the aussies would fall off the planet.
For the second thing, I'd probably presume you'd get squashed like a tin-can rather than exploding. - Kinda like a mechanical meat recovery machine, without the mechanical bit. We could send down a bass- or banjo-player to test this theory.
Or would you simply float in the middle (zero gravity), if it were possible to create an open tunnel?
The pressures and heat would be immense though, so making a tunnel that remains 'open' would be - currently - far beyond impossible. Diamond melts at 3800K, while the centre of the Earth is allegedly 5000-7000K, so even if the tunnel was made of diamond it would still melt.

I hate you, gravity! I HATE YOU!

The gravity has to affect the tunnel too, because it is "a part" of earth now.

At first I thought you implied I was made of diamond. Besides the tunnel is made of space. Otherwise you couldn't travel through it.

What would happen is that whatever was dropped would accelerate until it got to the centre of the earth, then start decellerating while going to the other side, eventually it would stop and start falling back toward the centre of the earth. It would keep oscillating like this for a while depending on the air resistance and eventaully it would come to a halt in the centre of the earth just floating there.
