Default Black Screen of Death on OS Update - Fixed!

Earlier tonight I decided to update my TI to OS 3.1 for Windows. Something happened during the update .... my foot hit the off switch on my power bar (which the TI is connected to!). I quickly turned the power to the TI back on and to my horror nothing happened. The Virus logo on the back was lit but everything on top, including the screen, was dark. Uninstalling and reinstalling the TI software suite didn't help. Unplugging the TI and doing a factory reset didn't do anything. Pounding my keyboard with my trackball didn't help. At this point I was starting to panic. Oh crap!

With a hot cup of tea in hand (and fresh pair of pants) I headed over to the official Access Music website and stumbled across this little link here:

http://www.access-music.de/page/rend...questions.html

I tried the steps listed there. Unplugged everything from the TI - including the audio cables - left the power unplugged for 20 seconds, then plugged it back in while holding the EXIT button on the TI .... and nothing. I tried it again and presto! back in business. The LCD powered on and indicated it was waiting for OS update. I uninstalled the TI software suite one final time and then reinstalled it, plugging the USB for the TI in and out as directed and everything is now in working order.

Thanks. I can honestly say it's the worse scare I've had in my home studio in 10 years. But it's over now. Back to making music.

Really glad for you! Sometimes those occasions can be fatal. Looks like Access implemented a fail-safe procedure.

Thanks. I was pretty sure I had fried it. With the constant stream of software updates for different programs it's easy to get too confident about updating things without being careful. Firmware updates need to be taken seriously. Fortunately this time Access saved my butt.
