Virus KC MIDI probs
I am having trouble gettin any of the sequencers I own(logic, SX, live) to recognize the virus is sending MIDI. I have checked the cables, adn they are plugged into the firewire410's ports (In/Out and Out/IN). Is there a menu setting somewhere in the KC I am missing. I tried looking through the manual, but it says to plug in (manual is poorly written).
I cant check to see if it is my 410, b/c this is the only piece of hardware I have for the moment. But the V-synth used to work fine on the same MIDI ports.
Any suggestions?

If you?r trying to record controller- or polypresure-data from your Virus to your sequenser check if your Virus is set to "LoPage = SysEx" and/or "HiPage = SysEx" in the "System/multi edit" menu (under "MIDI control"). If they are, this is your problem...
Edit: I?m not sure the menus are the same on the KB. I own a C but it should be rather similar...

I totally agree!
The Virus manual sucks ass!
It is very short on useful verbiage and has ZERO step-by-step examples.
It tells you WHAT TO DO but not HOW TO DO IT.
Telling someone the end result of what they are trying to accomplish by referencing the first button to push in the whole process is worthless.
I write a few user manuals each year for the systems my company builds and I can't believe the total and complete lack of information in the Virus manual.
If it weren't for this forum I would never figure the damn thing out.

Thanks Dunkel. That wasn't it. I think my soundcard just took its last breath. I took it up to guitar center and could not get any midi through up there either. This just fuckin sucks. New toy, ready to design some sounds and make some tracks, and albeit the soundcard takes a shit!!!!!

Is it sending out any data at all? Notation even?
Not an easy one to figure out from this side of the world.
Only things I can sugest are;
Put the KC in single mode to start.
Select midi channel 1 on the sequencer.
Then play the keyboard and press record on the sequencer.
Pretty sure you would have tried all that allready though.
The other thing is make sure the Virus's midi isn't setup to just send midi data to the internal parts of the KC (instead of going to the midi outs). All this is in the midi setup of the KC.
There are 3 choices;
internal - just the controls go to the Virus and won't go to midi out.
int+midi - go to both.
midi - only the controller data goes to the midi out and it doesn't go to the internal engine of the KC.
Look on page 119 of the manual for this stuff.
PS. I thought the manual was quite good. I read it while I while waiting for my VC and when my VC finally came, I knew the thing inside out.

Will try this when I get home in a couple of hours. You going to be on MSN then?

No, I probably won't be on MSN later mate. I'll be heading out soon.
If it isn't the sound card, I'm pretty sure it will be the midi setup I mentioned of the KC.
Let me know how it goes.
But, ff it isn't that, or your soundcard, then it will be something setup in your sequencer. All guesses from here though.
Good luck!

Soundcard's midi ports are shot I believe. Cant do anything with them. Even tried hooking up my oxy8 through them and cant get a signal. But I can get a signal through USB on the oxy8.
