for 280 US$..... what do you think ? is it a good price?
the unit seems to be in mint condition!

I dont rate this unit very highly, I bought one last year, and it sits mostly unused in my rack.

I also bought the M300 (TC Electronics) and, although both units are similar (in price and quality) I would rate the M300 higher than the MPX-100.

I do however use the units to add reverb to the headphone mix when recording vocals, and I have used both units when mixing on my analogue board.

Basically, you get what you pay for. i would say software reverbs would be of better quality, although CPU resources are used.

I cant remember exactly what I paid for my MPX-110, something between US$200-300.

Save your money and buy a poco if you want some nice reverbs, or perhaps look for an old Yamaha Rev-5. Spend a bit more and get something decent.

Save up and get a MPX550. Its very easy to use and has great reverbs and delays on it.

muchas gracias! i think i will save my money and wait then get a better unit. I was excited because it was cheap and Lexicon of course.

jasedee, does it sound really really bad? not even a tiny little lexicon smell on the sound?

$280 is way too much for a second hand mpx110. You should get an MPX500 with that money.

That is true.....$280 is way too much.

Get the MPX550.....its alot easier to use than the MPX1 and it sounds almost as good. Theres no point having a great processor you can never get into.....and that what ive heard time and time again with the MPX1.

I wouldn't say it sounds bad....It's only that I have had the fortune to use other (Higher end) lexicon units and therefor my opinion is slightly biased. I think there are definately some useable FX in the MPX-110, but I definately think it would be in your best interest to save a little more and get something better.

I reckon the MPX-550 would be nice for a home studio. I certainly would pick one up had I not rushed out and bought the 110 cos it was cheap!

I think the MPX550 suits home use (maybe even studio use) very well. It sounds good...and is very easy/intuitive to use. Put it this way....im an effects newbie...and ive got into the depths of preset editing without looking at the manual yet.

The thing I like about the 550 is that is comes loaded with 260 useable presets (60 user storage). You have 4 edit knobs which are automatically set up within each preset for tweaking. I like this, it allows me to call up my favourite prest and tailer it to more specific needs very quickly + it sounds very good. Its without a doubt one of the best sounding units in this price range...

i am also a FX newbie, i have absolutely no idea on the good or bad fx units on the market, i just know lexicon is famous for its reverb, thats why i am tempted. Delay is a imho a basic fx and i won't be considering a unit for its delay capablities, vst effects can do nice delays, but reverb is another story, don't know what you think about this....
anyway, i'll be considering either the 500 or the 550 in a near future.

I think the 550 has additional compression effects to go with the reverb. Correct me if I'm wrong, anyone, but I vaguely recall hearing the 550 user interface is better than the older 500. Easier and more intuitive to get into for good control and results.
