Default (solved)Virus B - Midi Sequencer problems

Ive had to reinstall my sequencer and trying to set up my virus b is driving me mad

i cant remember exactly how i had it before

but now my virus wont read automation from my sequencer (cubase sx 2)
for example... if i draw in automation (in controller lane) for filter cut off it doesnt read or write it (if i turn the cut off in real time whilst recording)

also my controller keyboard doesnt play sounds from the virus

but if i click on the piano keys in the midi editor page or draw note down it plays

please help?

hello, do you have the proper midi ports selected for the midi track you are using for automation? For example - I have a midex 8 midi patch bay. Midex port 3 out goes to my virus c and Midex port 3 in takes midi data from the virus and busses it into cubase. So for an automation track in cubase, I would create a midi track and select midex 3 in and midex 3 out for the ports so that now that track records what is sent and received from the virus.

yeah i think ive got that part set up correct.

Im using a delta 1010 soundcard and have the virus midi in and out set up through that.
ive got those selected for the midi track im working on (midi 1, virus device id 1)

i think its more than likely some strange midi setting thats set up as default in cubase. i just cant work out how to change it

Ive sorted it

incase anyone needs to know what it was i'll list them.

In the virus CTRL menu - Low page = Control

and in sequnecer midi input = All midi inputs (to get both writable automation from the virus knobs and also usb controller keyboard to work)
