Default Daisy chaining

How long can i run a MIDI cable before it becomes a problem? I just bought a Korg Kaoss Pad KP2 but then realized that i?ve run out of ports on my MIDI-interface Now one of my ports is connected to my Sherman Filterbank 2 (only in since it doesn?t send anything but trigger on signals on the out) so i thought i could do as below since they both only use one MIDI-channel each but don?t know if the MIDI-cables will be to long beacuse they will be on each side of my desk.

This is what i?m thinking of doing:

MIDI interface out ---(3 meters)---> Sherman Filterbank in
Sherman Filterbank thru ---(5-6 meters)---> Kaoss Pad in
Kaoss Pad out ---(3 meters)---> MIDI interface in
Total lenght 11-12 meters.

Will i get a problem with this or is it just fine?

Shouldn't be a problem Onkel. I doubt you'd notice any lag at all.

Do you need the MIDI out from the Filterbank?

I personally would set that up a different way,

MIDI Interface out > KAOS Pad In
Kaos Pad Out > MIDI Interface In
Kaos Pad Thru > Filterbank In

This way you have a single loop on your interface and controller and a simle MIDI thru driving the filterbank.

As long as you don't need a returned MIDI signal from the Filterbank I would go this way...

There?s no MIDI thru on the Kaoss Pad Otherwise it would be the way to go...
