Default NEw to Virus TI-HELP!!

Hi, i just got a Virus TI2 in the mail, i have never used hardware before, just software, and i am having a lot of trouble understanting how to use Virus TI keyboard with Logic 8.
Thanks to some friends, i was able to understand how to use VC with logic, well sort of.
My main language is not english and that might get in the way of understanding a lof of the topics i found while searching, but hey, i can only try and try.
My issues are not related to sound design, i can manage that, they are about how to route Virus to Logic for some of the things i need to do.

1- I understand how to open a new software instrument as multitimbral and get 16 channels which are routed to the 16 in VC each on it's own midi channel.

2-I understand how to mute or solo the channels using Logic 8 preferences.

3- i DO NOT understand how to get a volume for each channel so i can master the audio, i know, lame but i am new to hardware instruments and i have neer done this with software at all.

4- I DO NOT understand how automation works.

now, i will give you some info :

a- i got a mac pro running logic 8

b- I got the Virus connected using the usb cable but i also have a midi cable that i could use to router midi out from virus to midi in to soundcard.

c-I am a n00b, so please, understand i am not stupid, i just need help.
