Default When the Mac Vs PC debate gets too much....

take a trip back to when life was simple.

And a few specs on this last one;
SPEED 2.5 MHz
RAM 4 KB magnetic core, expandable to 16 KB

Luckily it was expandable to 16kb, as 4kb just wouldn't be enough!

Even back then.....the Macs had the edge over PC's hehehe

I dont know why we do it.......but I just cant help myself. PC's have left a bad taste in my mouth from my past experiences with them, but thats not to say my mind cant be changed.

I had the chance to see one of the new "MCS Silent Audio Computers"- Which uses the 'Zalman TNN500A' enlosure.

http://www.musiccomputersystems.com/compute.htm

And they look fantastic! NO FANS!!!!!NO NOISE!!!!!

It might be just the thing that converts me back to being a PC guy.....

Back then, pretty much everything was un-usable I rekon.

These days I'm not up with the Mac Vs PC stuff. I'm pretty sure a G5 Mac would run a smidge faster than the Celeron 800 I'm using now though. 8O Gunna have to upgrade soon I think. Hehehe.

About computer noise - Noise doesn't really bother me all that much at the moment as my box is well out of view.

I think as far as electronica stuff it is of little consequence...but when you are recording acoustic guitar or some intimate vocals....it pushes the noise floor up alot......and your 24bit (144dB) dynamic range is substantially reduced...

I am toying with the idea of building a little house for my Mac, but will have to figure a way to keep it cool.....or move it physically, so it is not near my recording space.....

Yeah, my G5 blazes, but when all those fans get going it gets pretty loud. I only record synths and midi from the control room, though, most everything else comes from the iso booth. It ended up costing me about $1000 to build a booth in a 5' by 6' walk-in closet, but now I couldn't be happier.

Sounds like a good investment!!! I wish I had the time/money/patience/skill to build my room a little better.......but with all the other noise that happens all around me (yes...I still live with my parents!) it is probably going to cost me 10 grand to do it right......

Dont wanna half-arsed job......
