Default CUBASE SX2 PROBLEM

Hi, this is related to the virus cos the two are linked........
When i open cubase it says "samplerate could not be set. This may be due to the sampleclock being set to the external sync
Does this make sense to anyone!?
this happened to me with cubase sl as well but i didnt even have the virus back then!
thanx guys

Another Music App is using your Soundcard, perhaps Windows Media Player. This means that on start up Cubase cannot set the sample rate for the soundcard.

Ensure nothing else is running before you start Cubase and if the problem persists then let me know.

What soundcard is it you are using?

Also, on the 'transport' bar, there is an option that says "Sync-Internal/external"

Make sure this is on 'internal'.

Are you using Windows XP?

Have you followed the XP set-up guides such as ensuring the audio is not mapped through your soundcard?

Tell us a bit about your set-up...

You could search http://forum.cubase.net to see if any others have encountered the same problem.

If you have XP then it is a more suitable OS for DAW, however I would still recommend tuning it. This link is the source used by most when it comes to setting your PC up for use as a DAW.

I would recommend you read it carefully as it does point out things that can do harm and what not. If you follow its basic principal well you should have a good system for doing music on.

This may not solve your problem through so I would have to suggest that you follow Onkel Donkel's advice and try use other forums to find the cause of the problem. Are you sure there is nothing running in the background - check the processes running in Windows Task Manager - you may find that you have WMP running in the background.

I am still convinced that something else is hogging your soundcard when Cubase loads! That is the only time I have ever seen the message you described.
