Default VC channel interference?

A new problem popped up today using Virus Control. When playing a note on channel 5, short staccato notes on channels 1 and 3 became legato.

To make sure I wasn't imagining this I lowered the midi volume (slider in VC) to zero and when the ch 5 was playing silently the errors were still there in ch 1 and 3. Pressing 'mute' on ch was the same as not sending it midi and no error.

Just baffling how new probs can screw up a session.

Setup:
Cubase SX 3, TI as vsti using VC, using out 1 L+R out 2 L+R out 3 L+R, not using USB for audio what so ever, Fireface 800 at 88200 hz

I'm a bit of a dummy at this area, but possibly it could be that you've exceeded the polifony limit?

Nowhere near the limit, Plus the notes get longer, not disappear.
